Jonathan hurries downstairs to join his mother for breakfast. She hadn’t called him down as she usually does and, although, he wonders about that, his tummy is growling, and he quickly stuffs his pajamas under his pillow.
What? No oatmeal on the stove? Cold cereal and juice? Where is Mom? Looking from room to room and peeking through the door of her bedroom, he finds her sick in bed. Jonathan imagines staying home and doing all the fun activities that will surely make her better!
As his plan is quickly dashed by the possibility of being in bed himself, school begins to look more appealing.
